A Fling With The New Volvo S60

Just spent a weekend with Volvo’s new S60, and what a weekend it was!  This particular weekend we were celebrating our daughter’s 21st Birthday with a spoil-ourselves-rotten weekend at Center Parcs, Sherwood Forest.  So to put a certain amount of icing on the cake we used the S60 as her preferred mode of transport.

MyThe New Volvo S60 goodness it rained though!  Incessant, heavy depressing, grotty rain all the way there and, just to make it that little bit more memorable, all the way back too.

Why should that matter though!  The Volvo S60 is one of those cars I instantly fell in love with, from the moment I drove the first few hundred metres to get to the main roads right through to the time the tear welled up in my eye when I had to give it back.

It almost becomes a part of you as you drive, and with many of the technological advances of the last few years it as good as drives itself, using adaptive cruise control, blind spot information systems, full European Sat-Nav, parking proximity sensors to mention but a few.  It offers comfort and luxury in the extreme, but with a boot as long in itself as our own family hatchback, it swallowed up all the celebratory nosh and fashion that we needed, together with all the other accessories teenage daughters need for 2 days away.  Who needs Pickfords anyway?

If I had a certain amount of money to spend on a luxurious and versatile family car, I would have no hesitation in signing the cheque right now… but …  Ah well, maybe next week then!

I enjoy a weekend away, a good film on the telly and a good restaurant. I also love a good rant when things aren't up to expectation or are playing on my mind.
