Microwave Fudge – A Revelation!

I was soooooo excited to discover this recipe for Microwave Fudge! I have the sweetest tooth imaginable. In fact on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d be up there in the 10s! The kids (who aren’t really children as such any more) all love fudge too and as a family we’ve made it often over the years.

Anyway this microwave version cooks miles faster and tastes just as good. Here you go:Microwave Fudge

INGREDIENTS
500g caster sugar
1 tin of condensed milk
5ml vanilla essence
100g butter

METHOD
1. Mix the sugar, milk and butter in a big microwave-safe bowl.
2. Microwave on high for 2 mins 30 secs or until the butter has melted. Stir.
3. Microwave on high for 10 minutes, stopping every few minutes or so to stir.     Add the vanilla essence during the last stir.
4. Remove from the microwave and pour the scrummy mixture into a greased shallow tin.
5. Cool at room temperature and then cut into squares when cooled.

It takes about 5 minutes to prepare and around 12 minutes to cook – perfect!

It makes loads too. Enjoy!

In a nutshell, I'm a Mum to three gorgeous daughters and two step-sons who are gradually making their own lives and leaving Mr. C and I plenty of time to enjoy life just as a couple again. I'm a big fan of Afternoon Tea & Corrie and hate, with a vengeance, violence in films! I love reading 'proper' books though I concede that my birthday Kindle was brilliant on holidays.

  1. Please clarify this recipe. You say to use a microwave safe bowl. Does this mean to use glass or plastic? What is the wattage of your microwave? I have tried these instructions twice today and they have failed spectacularly both times. Somewhere around the four or five minute mark during heating the mixture boils over and coats the inside of the microwave. I hate cleaning the microwave. The second time I tried this I was checking every minute during the ten minute heating period. I am at a loss as to how you can do this successfully. Thanks for your help.

  2. Delicious! Do make sure the bowl is a deep one though as the mixture really bubbles up after the third or fourth heating
